Our Initiative

Our initiative is designed to benefit students, teachers, administrators, and parents in K-12 educational settings. By providing resources, training, and support, we aim to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that foster the development of essential social and emotional skills.

Our K-12 Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Initiative offers comprehensive programming designed to foster emotional intelligence, self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making in the school community. Our mission is to nurture the school community’s abilities to understand and manage their emotions, empathize with others, build and maintain positive relationships, and make constructive choices. In turn, this will empower them to lead more fulfilling lives and contribute positively to their communities.

Cultivating Mindful Culture Through SEL

Source Wellness' SEL program focuses on empowering administrators, teachers, and parents to develop emotional intelligence and create supportive learning environments. Our comprehensive approach to the “Cultivating Mindful Culture Through SEL” program teaches practical strategies for self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision-making, social awareness, and relationship skills. 

Our program offers valuable insights into mindfulness, compassion, and empathy while providing tools to manage stress, anxiety, and burnout. By fostering emotional regulation and self-awareness, this program helps create a more empathetic and caring learning environment where every community member can support each other and thrive together.

Goals

  • Help participants cultivate practical insights around the crucial concepts of mindfulness, compassion, and empathy
  • Teach all concepts in relation to the five elements of SEL as outlined by CASEL.org
  • Share tools for recognizing and managing stress, anxiety, and burnout 
  • Improve compassion for self and others, leading to a more kind and empathetic learning environment
  • Improve emotional regulation and overcome habitual reactive behavior 
  • Increased self-awareness necessary as a prerequisite for increased social and emotional intelligence

This session is available virtually, but is currently only available in-person in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.

Cultivating Mindful Culture Through SEL - Students

At Source Wellness, we understand the importance of developing well-rounded students who possess not only intellectual competencies but also emotional intelligence. Our “Cultivating Mindful Culture Through SEL” program has an engaging and interactive curriculum that helps students develop essential life skills, such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, responsible decision-making, and relationship-building. 

This student-focused program parallels the adult version, with content specifically tailored to young learners. The only exception is session four, which centers on emotional regulation instead of burnout. A unified approach to SEL is essential for cultivating an empathetic, compassionate, and emotionally intelligent community. This joint effort guarantees that the benefits of SEL are enduring and far-reaching, fostering a caring and supportive environment for all participants.

  • Provide tools and practices to recognize emotions and manage them
  • Increase self-awareness as a prerequisite for increased social and emotional intelligence
  • Decrease in Disciplinary Action, through learning how to chose emotional regulation and overcome habitual reactive behavior
  • Increase in SEL as an attribute to academic success

Mindful Self-Care Through SEL

"Mindful Self-Care Through SEL" is a comprehensive program designed to equip adults, including administrators, teachers, and parents with the essential skills and practices of SEL and Mindfulness. This program aims to foster a positive and inclusive school culture that benefits all members of the community. We will explore mindfulness, self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, and relationship-building skills, all of which contribute to creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment.

In this transformative program, we will delve into topics such as mindfulness and attention, grounding techniques for stressful moments, rest and self-compassion, mindful communication for increased inclusion, and practical strategies for daily integration of mindfulness. Guided by experienced facilitators, attendees will partake in a range of exercises and activities that enable them to develop a personalized understanding of mindfulness and SEL practices, empowering them to create lasting positive change in their own lives and the lives of the students they serve.

  • Learn greater autonomy by letting go of reactionary tendencies, helping to reduce stress and anxiety
  • Cultivate the competency to cope and find grounding when extreme moments of stress arise
  • Integrate key mindful communication skills to improve inclusiveness in school environments
  • Understand the power of intention when coupled with mindfulness during daily living
